yahoo and google definitely have lots of room to improve email… or, to augment it and enrich the experience… it’s a hassle, as it is, managing online relationships over the exploding conduits of social interation on the web. something like this, with an open social, or FOAF framework could be seriously experience-enriching. email seems such a good starting-point, because, it already holds so much information on our relationships, it will be interesting to see if this can be done without people feeling their privacy is infringed upon, of course… the companies already have all this information, however, sometimes we prefer not to face it. i hope yahoo can get some good interaction developers hired, their mail interface is still clunky…

But he did say that Yahoo was working on what he called “Inbox 2.0.”

This has several features. First, the e-mail service is made more personal because it displays messages more prominently from people who are more important to you. Yahoo is testing a method that can automatically determine the strength of your relationship to someone by how often you exchange e-mail and instant messages with him or her.
